Two different products: Free DPDPA Essentials is a short individual mini course. The DPDPA Awareness Course is the full organisation programme with managed enrolment, assessment, tracking and training records. The questions below refer to the DPDPA Awareness Course unless stated otherwise.
About the DPDPA Awareness Course
Is Free DPDPA Essentials the same as the DPDPA Awareness Course?
No. Free DPDPA Essentials is a short introductory mini course for an individual employee. The DPDPA Awareness Course is the full approximately 60-minute organisation programme, with a Final Assessment, managed learner enrolment, completion tracking, management visibility and exportable training records.
How long does the DPDPA Awareness Course take?
About 60 minutes of learner time, structured as six modules. Employees can complete it in one sitting or take one module at a time and finish across the week — whichever fits their schedule. It runs on a laptop, desktop, tablet, or iPad.
What does the DPDPA Awareness Course cover?
Six modules: Why this matters, Who's who under DPDP, What the Act requires, Rights and requests, Spotting and reporting incidents, and Everyday mistakes. Each module ends with a scenario and a drag-and-drop exercise. The course concludes with a Final Assessment.
Is this awareness training or professional certification?
Awareness training. It's built for every employee — not for a Data Protection Officer building deep programme expertise. Individual professionals wanting deep DPDP expertise are better served by dedicated certificate courses. Most organisations need both, for different people. More on the distinction here.
What language is the DPDPA Awareness Course in?
English, in the first release. Voiceover is professional narration, with matching captions on every slide. Hindi and regional-language versions are on the roadmap based on customer demand.
Compliance and records
What records do we get for the compliance audit file?
An admin dashboard with per-learner records: who enrolled, who completed, when, average test score, time spent per module, resume patterns, and interaction detail via Tin Can/xAPI. Everything exports to Excel and CSV. This isn't a simple spreadsheet — it's an audit trail a compliance auditor or Data Protection Board inquiry could work with.
Does the DPDPA Awareness Course make our organisation DPDP-compliant?
No single training course makes an organisation compliant — DPDP compliance is an ongoing programme involving policies, technical controls, contract updates, and documented processes across the organisation. Employee awareness training is a well-fitted organisational control that supports several parts of that programme: it helps staff follow the organisation's data-handling procedures, recognise possible incidents, and route Data Principal requests correctly. Completion records also help evidence that workforce awareness measures have been implemented.
How is the DPDPA Awareness Course customised for our organisation?
For organisational deployments, a separate DPDP Quick Reference Card can be used to show your DPO or Grievance Officer, breach reporting path, privacy notice location and internal escalation contact. This lets the DPDPA Awareness Course remain a single tested version while learners still see your organisation's specific contacts and procedures.
Do you issue certificates?
The DPDPA Awareness Course produces per-learner completion records visible in your admin dashboard, exportable for your audit file. We deliberately don't issue standalone individual certificates — the audit-ready dashboard record is what a compliance auditor or the Data Protection Board would want to see, and 100 individual PDF certificates would be far harder to manage.
Pricing and delivery
How is the DPDPA Awareness Course priced?
There are two paid delivery options for the DPDPA Awareness Course: hosted on the Abhisam LMS, or streamed to your own LMS. Organisational pricing is quoted based on learner count and delivery choice. See the pricing structure here.
Is there a free demo?
Yes. Get in touch and we'll walk you through the DPDPA Awareness Course — one module, the dashboard, and how the audit record would look for your organisation. Typically a 20-minute conversation.
What if my sector needs specialised content — banking, insurance, e-commerce?
We're building sector-specific add-on modules for BFSI, Insurance, E-commerce, and Travel — sectors with distinct DPDP interaction patterns. Mention your sector when you get in touch; early customers help shape which add-ons ship first.
Technical and delivery
How is the DPDPA Awareness Course delivered?
There are two paid delivery options. With Abhisam LMS delivery, learners access the DPDPA Awareness Course through rapidcompetency.com and your administrator uses the Abhisam dashboard for enrolment, tracking and records. With LMS streaming, employees launch the course from your organisation's own LMS while the course remains hosted and maintained by Abhisam. Compatibility and reporting flow are confirmed before deployment.
Do we need our own LMS?
No. You can use the DPDPA Awareness Course on the Abhisam LMS, where we handle enrolment, tracking and training records. If you already have an LMS, we can instead stream the course to your LMS so employees launch it there. We confirm LMS compatibility and reporting requirements before deployment.
How quickly can we get started?
Typically same-day setup after payment. Your admin credentials arrive within a working day, and you can start enrolling learners immediately. There's no procurement cycle, no lengthy onboarding — the DPDPA Awareness Course is a productised offering.
Can we customise the DPDPA Awareness Course content itself?
The DPDPA Awareness Course is maintained as a single tested version. Organisation-specific details such as your DPO, escalation path or privacy contacts can be supplied through a separate Quick Reference Card. If you need deeper customisation, tell us what you need when you request a quote.
About DPDP more generally
When does DPDP compliance actually become mandatory?
Most operational obligations under the Act and Rules take effect on 13 May 2027. After that date, the Data Protection Board can impose penalties following its inquiry process. Full compliance timeline here.
Does DPDP apply to us — we're only a small business?
The Act is likely to apply if your organisation processes digital personal data within India, or processes personal data outside India in connection with offering goods or services to Data Principals in India. If you have a customer database, an HR system, a marketing list, or accept online enquiries, DPDP most likely applies. Section 17(3) of the Act does allow the Central Government to notify specified classes of Data Fiduciaries — including eligible startups — as exempt from particular provisions, so unusual cases should be checked with counsel. More on applicability here.
What happens if we don't comply?
The Data Protection Board can impose monetary penalties under the Schedule to the DPDP Act — up to ₹250 crore for failure to implement reasonable security safeguards, and other penalties for different violations. Penalties follow an inquiry process rather than being automatic. Penalties explained here.
